- Do not forget that you represent your home country.

- Do not take small things too seriously. Accepting things as they are paves the way for a good trip.
- Do not judge all people (in one country or place) by the one person with whom you have had trouble.
- If you are part of a group, do not let other group members annoy you. You spend good money and set aside this time. So, enjoy yourself.
- Do not worry too much. Few things people worry about are ever fatal.
- Remember your passport (or other identification document) so that you know where it is at all times. A person without documents is a person without a country.
- Learn to say “thank you” in your destinations language. Verbal gratefulness is important to them. Additional tips are fine.
- When abroad, do as the locals do. If in trouble, use common sense and your native friendliness.
- Remember, you are a guest in your destination’s country. If you treat people with respect, you will be an honored guest.
